Sustainable Tourism

Erika Lucia Arias

I am an Environmental Engineer graduated from Universidad El Bosque, and I hold an MSc in Natural Resources Management and Sustainability from TH Köln (Germany) and UASLP (Mexico). My academic and personal path has been driven by the recognition of rural territories and environmentally friendly agri-food practices.
My initial research focused on developing a water management tool to measure the hydrological cycle of the upper Túa River basin, aiming to determine appropriate water supply practices for rural communities facing access conflicts.
Currently, I lead a rural initiative called 'Agrosolidaria Monterrey Casanare,' an agro-sustainable business farm. In this role, I oversee five key sustainability practices: organic cashew production as an economy of scale, apiculture, specialty crop gardens, water harvesting, and multispectral drone monitoring. These practices are designed to be adopted by communities in the Piedemonte Llanero region and beyond.
